First Week Back in Madrid

July 31, 2017

[Week of: July 24 – 30]

Monday - Well, like I said last week, I spent most of my day on a train coming down from Vigo. After getting to our area we came to our Piso and I unpacked. Then we only had about 40 minutes to write emails. Then, we got 'failed' a couple of times, but, it's okay because we found some cool people on the streets.

Tuesday - This morning we did some area Book Work to try and get prepared for this upcoming transfer. We have some really greet people that we are teaching right now. As well this evening we had a meeting for all of the leaders of the mission in Madrid. We had to travel to where the temple is and we talked about some goals and things we want to do as a mission this transfer.

[NOTE: Our good friends in Franklin, TN, Gordon & Michelle Bennett have a nephew, Alex Bennett, who is new to the Madrid mission. When Alex's family would visit the Bennetts, Grayson and Sam would also hang out with Hannah and Spencer, and Alex and his sister.  Funny that they meet again half-way around the world! The Church makes the world a very small place!]

Elder Alex Bennett and Elder Harris

Wednesday - This morning we had district meeting. Then we went as a district and ate at Burger King. Then we did our studies for the day. Then we met with our investigator, Leidy, she's from Bolivia and she's gonna get baptized on the 2 of September. Then we taught English class. Then we did some pass-bys.

Thursday - This morning Elder Erickson had to go to Pavones to do a self sufficiency meeting. They always do it when you have to go home. It lasts like 3 hours so, when he was doing that I had to go contacting and finding in the area, it was actually pretty fun. Then we went to some members house who was introducing us to their friends. We taught them the restoration and they loved it. After that we played fútbol with a bunch of members. That was the day.

Friday - This morning we met with a girl named Paola. She's from Cuba and she's actually gonna be going to live in Idaho to finish high school there for foreign exchange. She's really cool she just has a ton of questions about the gospel. We had a really good lesson. Then after Medio día we visited a whole bunch of less actives. We had a really good lesson with a guy named Saul who the Elders just found like a week ago who is a less active and he hadn't gone to church in like 10 years. He's really great and we set goals with him on how to get reactivated.

Saturday - Today we met with our friend Alicia in the morning. She's a good lady, still just doesn't really have a ton of desire to learn yet. Then we had a meeting with the District leaders in our zone to set some goals. Our zone has 16 missionaries in it. As of now we think our area is doing really great, we are really hopeful for a really successful last transfer for Elder Erickson. As well tonight we had a wedding reception tonight for a family that got sealed today in the Temple. It was really fun and we actually found like 4 new investigators at the activity.

Sunday - So church starts here at 11:30 which is nice because then we have the full amount of time for studies. Church was really good and I actually already know a lot of the people here because I had done intercambios here before. After church we ate lunch with the Cantos family. The father works at the U.S. Embassy so he brings us things from the U.S every time we go over. I drank Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew for the first time in a while and it was pretty awesome. We met with Leidy's family again and we shared a message about the sacrament. They really liked it.

Monday - Today we went to Mostoles and played fútbol and basketball with a bunch of members and missionaries. Tomorrow we have mission leadership counsel. Things are going really well through this first week here.

Love you all,
Elder Harris
