FREAKING OUT on the Inside

June 26, 2017

[Week of June 19 - 25 ]

Monday - Today was pretty laid back. We went to the Castro, or old castle part of Vigo. It was cool and we did a little hike basically. The views were really good from up there.

Vigo & Me

Tuesday - Well, today was full of finding opportunities. It was a good day. We did lots of pass-bys and as well we made a ton of phone calls. We met with Tomasa today. She's like this 84 year-old recent convert here and she's just the sweetest old lady ever. She's actually like completely 'there' for being as old as she is. Then we had some more finding opportunities. That was the day.

Wednesday - This morning we did weekly planning. Then we ate lunch with the District President and his family. They gave us some old less active members to go and pass by this week to try and see if we can help them come back. Then we met with Mikel's family. They are doing well, they are all just sort of struggling with having desires to do church things right now. Then we had English class. Then we made a lot of phone calls.

Thursday - Well this morning was really...fun. Our landlord came up and asked if we had any signs of leakage. We said no. Then he asked if he could come and look around. Sure go ahead. Then he's like, "hey there's a plumber downstairs and he needs to check the pipes in your kitchen." Well long story short, the plumber comes in, he has to break the tiles in our kitchen to get underneath to the pipes, then he finds the broken pipe and Yeah. We couldn't leave the Piso until 2:30 pm because they were still there working on it. The reason they came, was because apparently every time we used the sink or washing machine we were just basically pouring water on our neighbor that lives below us. He yelled at us too because he thought we were just up there dumping water on him or something. Oh Spain. The construction here is awesome! 😂

After we left for the day we met with Raquel. She's doing good. She's just really struggling with wanting to stop smoking. She's doing well otherwise though. She's reading and praying every day.

FREAKING OUT ON THE INSIDE

Friday - So this morning we had to do some stuff for the branch. Then we ate lunch with a lady named Rogelia. She's from Spain, but lived most of her life in Uruguay. Then we did our studies for the day. Then we met with Juan José. He's doing super good. He told us before we started the lesson, but while we were just talking about life, he was like "Yea, so guys, I think I'm ready to get baptized on the 15th of July." We were like okay cool, but, on the inside we were freaking out. He's seriously been a miracle! His girlfriend who introduced him to the church is actually living in Atlanta right now, working as a cook at a restaurant. They have plans to get married probably in like September. They would be a great family to add to the branch here in Vigo.

Empollada
Saturday - So this morning we played fĂștbol. Then we went to eat at some members' house. They fed us empollada. It's essentially fried chicken. It was pretty good. If you wanna see what it looks like just look it up. Then we did studies. Then we had to go over to Pontevedra so I could do a baptismal interview for a guy named Brian. He's pretty solid and in his prayer all he said was "thanks for letting me get to know this true church and get to know these Elders who have helped me change so much." He's a good guy. Should be getting baptized July 1st.

Sunday - Church was pretty good today. Juan José and Víctor came. Then we ate in Piso and we took a nap. Wow, it feels so good to do that every once in a while. Then we did studies. Then we went to our pancakes activity. And then we finished the day. It was a good day.

Monday - Today Elder Schwanke and I are just chilling and taking it easy. We were gonna go and see some stuff but then some plans fell through. Hopefully next week we'll have some pictures.

Love you all,
Elder Harris
