A Miracle From Venezuela

May 22, 2017

[Week of May 15 - 21 ]

Monday - Yeah, so pretty much we ate at the restaurant I told you about last week and then we played ping pong until P-day ended. It was a pretty chill day. After P-day we went to visit Angel y Leanor. They are some less actives that we are currently trying to help reactivate. They are really nice .

Tuesday - This morning we did some pass-bys and some other finding activities. As well, we taught Raquel. Our lesson was super good. We basically taught the word of wisdom and the law of chastity. She hasn't really been super responsive to those things before but this past lesson was really good. She had her daughter there with her and I think that helped. She realized we have these "rules" because they help us to be more happy in our lives. She was thinking about her daughter a lot and how she wants her to be a good girl and thinking about that helped her to choose to try and change and live the commandments. We are currently helping her to stop smoking and dress more modestly. We ate with my favorite Colombian grandma for lunch and then we headed over to Victor's house for a lesson. His daughter-in-law was there today and she seemed to really like our message. She's hopefully gonna meet with us sometime this week.

Wednesday - So today was pretty chill, basically all of our plans failed us. It was a good day though because we got to meet some interesting people. We did have district meeting this morning though and that went really well. The District seems to be growing a lot and improving on a day to day basis.

District Lunch - Elders Burt, Harris & Jones, Hermanas Duffin
 & Otto, Elders O'Boyle, Kamimoto & Knapp

Thursday - This morning we did weekly planning and then we ate lunch. After that we did our studies for the day. Then we went over to our recent convert Dennis' house. We helped do some service because they are currently moving bedrooms and a couple of other things in their home. We helped build a dresser and move some other stuff. Then we had Correlation right after that. The meeting was really good and I think that our branch mission leader is a boss. He really tries his best to help us have success during the week.

Friday - Today we had intercambios in A Coruña. We had to get up at 6 a.m to catch an early train there. Our train left at 7. We got there at about 9:30. I went with Elder Scott, who is from Virginia. We had a really great day and we saw some pretty cool miracles. We had English class and as well a branch Noche de hogar. It was a really great intercambio. Like, probably one of the best ones I have had my entire mission.

A MIRACLE TODAY...

Saturday - So we came back this morning. We had English class at 12. Then we played fútbol right after in a field close by. We have some really good potential investigators that come and play with us most Saturdays there so we are excited about the activity. Then we went and ate lunch in the Piso. Then we visited with Mikel. He's doing pretty good, his family is just struggling with being pretty lazy about church things right now.

But, the miracle of the week happened right after. We were walking to do a pass-by and a guy yelled at us from a bar "hey Elders come here, I want to talk to you!" He was speaking English and didn't sound like a fool, so we were like alright. We started talking to him and we found out he worked at the United States embassy in Geneva, Switzerland. His name is Carlos. So, he used to give the missionaries food a lot but he said he hadn't seen them in a long time. So we talked to him for a little bit, but he's not even the miracle. While we were sitting at the bar enjoying a water he bought for us another guy named Gabriel sat next to me. We started talking and he's from Venezuela. He lived in the United States for like 15 years and he speaks perfect English. He's a psychologist. He's super awesome. Anyway so we started talking about his life and he talked about how he was searching for a new life. He's been going through a really hard time. He told us after we explained the Book of Mormon and some stuff about the church that he wants to be happy like we are. We are gonna meet with him on Monday night. He's super awesome.

Sunday - Today church was really good. We had a really good sacrament meeting and then in second hour our Gospel Principles class was really good as well. Our friend Raquel came to church for the first time in a couple of months and she had a great experience. Afterwards we ate with a member and it was really good. We took the sacrament to a couple of members. Then we had pancakes.

Monday - Today for P-day we are in Pontevedra with the whole district to play fútbol with a group of Americans that live here.

PDay FUN
